FRICKERS VANDALIA,OH–Bad news Twinkies fans, Joe Nathan more than likely just blew up his elbow and will be out for the 2010 season. Apparently, Nathan, one of the more reliable closers in the MLB has a torn ligament in his pitching elbow and will need a few weeks for the swelling to go down to see how bad the damage is done after he pitched in a spring training game in Fort Myers, Florida today.
Nathan slammed the door shut on Twins games 47-times last season and has been one of the AL and MLB’s more reliable closers in his career. He does it quietly, without the typical over-powering stuff or anything that drops off the table like a Trevor Hoffman change-up. Nathan instead has a plethora of good pitches from power to changed speeds and manages get outs consistently.
Now, the Twins, built to be competetive and a winner in the first year in their new ball park, Target Field, suddenly have a huge hole to fill. Not only that, but IKBL champs from last season, Dream Team, owned by Kegerator Newbie Jim Fatsy suddenly seems to have lost a keeper from his defending champion team.
