NFL: Michael Irvin accused of rape, fired AGAIN. Irvin’s reputation doesn’t make charges hard to believe does it?

A seemingly humbled Michael Irvin during what was an amazing Hall of Fame speech a few years ago.

Michael Irvin’s reputation and past makes the latest charges against him seem…well…very possible…

Fired once more from an ESPN entity, soon Irvin is going to have a hard time staying employed anywhere…

Why do I want to believe in the good part of Michael Irvin when he absolutely probably doesn’t deserve it???
by Mike Zimmer
I hated Michael Irvin as a player. I hated that whole Dallas Cowboys dynasty back in the 90′s for that matter. Most of them, including Irvin were the poster children for what was wrong with the NFL and the world back in those days weren’t they? Yet, there was something about Irvin’s charisma once he seemed to figure it all out in retirement that made me forgive the sins of the past and like him as a broadcaster, even if the troubles he had as a player weren’t ever very far from him even then.
Irvin makes a good broadcaster. There, I said it. I liked him in this capacity too. The man has/had demons though and they raised their ugly head on a few occasions (“honestly officer, that is my cousins crack pipe and he left it in the driver side door well of my car”). Yet, there is/was something that I still liked in him. While he was brash, loud, and often I didn’t share his point of view on topics, it was a strange thing that I still liked him, especially when he was on ‘The Dan Patrick ESPN Radio Show” and on ESPN’s coverage of the NFL.
Now, though, Irvin has been accused of Rape (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=ArruJ8VxaHdHYi4aK5JAw3k5nYcB?slug=ap-irvin-sexlawsuit&prov=ap&type=lgns). And, it’s just not that hard to believe it very well may be true.

Got Crack Pipe?
Irvin was also fired this week, Super Bowl week, while on assignment for ESPN Radio Dallas. Apparently, even his hometown radio station was eager to jump ship and say, “we don’t want to have anything to do with Michael Irvin and a rape case”. They explained that away saying that the circumstances surrounding Michael Irvin just expedited their decision to fire him. Riiiiiight, see, they too think this shit could be true.
The NFL Network, to this point, who also employs Irvin have stood by him during these accusations. They’re pretty forgiving considering they have a few guys with baggage and skeletons in their closet (hello annoying Deion Sanders!!!).
I want to like Michael Irvin. I even liked his “reality” show ’4th and Long’ which was excellent TV to be honest with you. Yet, something always knocks him back down to that same, brash, stupid, lying, perhaps sociopath person that never seems to be very far from running amuck of the law or doing something that puts him in bad light.
The charges against him may be true, and that’s horrible if it is so. It’s just not that hard to believe it could be true because his history suggests it isn’t something that is beneath him.
The charges against him may not be true at all. Yet, there he is, embroiled in another controversy and people fleeing from him quick, because, well, becuas his history suggests it isn’t something beneath him.
My question is, if this chic is accusing him of rape, did he ask her up to his room to fix his TV like Ben Roethlisburger did when he raped that woman out in Nevada had sex with that one girl who was crazy and sued him???
