Folkie Cannucks put on a fantastic show
by Mike Zimmer, New Fan
I am not going to sit here and tell you that this is the greatest band ever or even that they are for everyone. However, in all of the concerts I have ever been to (and I really haven’t been to a ton of shows considering how many my friends typically have attended), this was by far the tops in a small venue so far, supplanting Edwin McCain. It will be hard pressed to ever beat Robert Randolph and the Family Band–but this quintet from New Foundland, Canada were truly great.
The show was a two-parter with the first hour and a half an accustic session of traditional Celtic/Irish music and regional (New Foundland) traditional songs. Brilliantly songs that told a story mixed with ballads and some drinking songs–it was a real eye opening and ear pleasing good time. The second set was the bands more famous version of Newfy rock (which is an interesting mix of almost zydeco/Irish rock band, rockabilly) or more traditional electric infused rock. The music had the avid fans of the band singing along and singing back to the band and had those like myself that had never even heard of the band probably, absolutely entertained. The band has a new fan, and hopefully I will be able to see them the next time they return to the region.

Here is hoping that those interested will join in the coverage. All are welcome to e-mail or IM me via cbusmike@hotmail.com or cbusmike on yahoo during the draft. All of which will be covered here on www.kegeratonation.com!
