USA! USA! USA!!!
-
Did you really think I’d not post something for 4th of July just because I was on vacation in Atlanta??? Especially after honoring our Canuckian sisters???
-
Time to celebrate those things most American and say Happy 4th of July to the best place on the earth, The United States of America…
-
Sure, it’s been a difficult go of late, but God has blessed the USA and we need to celebrate all the things that make it wonderful!!! Happy Birthday America!!!

by Mike Zimmer, On my way back from Atlanta on the the 4th of July
Happy 4th of July out there from Kegerator Nation. God Bless the USA!!! After honoring our Canadian sisters, well, I couldn’t go and not post something for the 4th could I? Hell No!!!
While it’s been a tough time in America these days, with a horrible economy that reminds us of the great depression, a border that is over-run, an oil spill fouling some of the most beautiful places on the planet and not just the USA and an era where crap is king, well, it’s hard to remember that sometimes we take a lot for granted in this country. We’re fucking awesome for one. We have the greatest country on Earth no matter what side of the aisle you sit politically, no matter what your religious beliefs are, no matter what color or ethnicity you are, it’s all part of the amazing melting pot that is America and it’s fucking great.
So Happy 4th of July. Now enjoy some of the best things about America, like Jesus, Apple Pie, Budweiser and THE Ohio State Buckeyes. Oh, and hot chicks too. Read the rest of this entry »

The Mayflower? What? I’m not the Baltimore Colts sneaking out of town, it’s more like the Americans returning from Snobs-and-Dreary-Rainsville.

The Publishing HQ of Kegerator Nation is on the move, the office dismantled and the boxes ready to be put on the boat…
-
Excuse the absence of content from the “home” office for 1/27/10.
by Mike Zimmer, Movin’ On
The office has been dismantled, the boxes filled and the ambiance removed (the Buckeye fat head has been safely stored in its container, all the memorabilia and collections stowed). Tomorrow the State of Ohio flag will be lowered (and then packed) and the England office of the publishing wing for The Kegerator Nation will be unofficially closed.
Tomorrow is moving day for me here at the HQ. I’ll be along back to the states in the very near future. There will be a few articles written, a few items added as per usual, but there will be nothing normal about the fact that pretty much everything but the computer will be packed and then loaded onto a moving van awaiting a trip through customs and onto a sea container, carrying everything back to the USA.
However, tonight, is the last night in the British HQ office. There will be no articles added tomorrow (written from here anyways, that is my back-handed way of saying perhaps someone else would like to add something??? Ahem…I’m talking to you Mr. Brewer, you Mr. Barker, you Mr. Steubby and you Mr. Big B). Read the rest of this entry »

Will Columbus once again become a minor league city? The Blue Jackets are in financial trouble, need fix that isn’t quickly coming.
-
With their founding owner John H. McConnell now dead a year, the Columbus Blue Jackets are in the red ink bad…
-
The NHL brand is leaking cash and the mid-level market Jackets suffering from it as badly as anyone…
-
Ugly reality time: Trouble with lease, city, county et al, there’s no easy solution and it could cost Columbus the Blue Jackets.
by Mike Zimmer, Jackets fan
I’ve held off on this story a couple weeks having looked around for any follow up in recent weeks after finding it. The report wasn’t good news for hockey fans in Ohio, in general fans of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets. The team is leaking money at a pace it cannot cope with for long and there is no easy fix coming nor anyone willing to step to as of right now.
According to various reports including yahoo (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news?slug=ap-bluejackets-future&prov=ap&type=lgns) and The Dispatch (http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/local_news/stories/2009/11/06/CBJ_reax.ART_ART_11-06-09_A1_D3FJDFB.html?sid=101) have sung the same sad tune. The Blue Jackets are losing $12-million a year and no one can afford it.
Worse, I got an e-mail from the Jackets to respond to something in the Columbus Business Journal, (http://columbus.bizjournals.com/columbus/poll/index.html) which was asking me, as a fan who has visited their site, has purchased merchandise from and has bought tickets from, if the Blue Jackets are viable and valuable to me. Sure, sure, it’s a juking the stats maneuver, but the simple fact that they have to ask someone who has been a customer since day one and even was a season ticket holder to the Columbus Destroyers of the Arena Football League, there might be a huge problem on the way. The Kegerator Cup, awarded to the winner of the Turkey Bowl.
-
Apparently there will be no Turkey Bowl this year as history is interrupted…
-
Has tradition died or been interupted this year with no Turkey Bowl scheduled???
-
Am I, the “Kegerator Nation” or are WEthe “Kegerator Nation”???
by Mike Zimmer, disappointed.
As far as I have been told, unfortunately, there will be no Turkey Bowl VII this year. Those that are back stateside and were left with the responsibility of pulling together and trying to put together such a game have either failed or shirked their duty. There has been no communication from those that hold the Kegerator Cup and those that the responsibility would fall to, to organize a game.
The one year I could not be home, apparently the damn thing just wasn’t on the minds of those left with such a responsibility. Being overseas here in England, I could not plan this year’s event. There was just no way to get home for the holidays this year like I did last and help try and get the Turkey Bowl off the ground for the 7th time. Again, I’ve heard nothing other than a few people wonder whether the game was to be played and have been unable to reach anyone with the power to organize the event.
I am terribly disappointed. Read the rest of this entry »

The last place Royals ace, Zack Greinke was named the AL Cy Young yesterday after a masterful season and 16-wins with KC.
-
Greinke gets well deserved nod as best AL pitcher despite being on horrible Royales team…
-
More awards coming in the next few days, starting with Manager of the year today…
-
Is it time that the International Kegerator Nation started voting on such post-season awards for our league too???
by Mike Zimmer, Has too much time on his hands today
It would seem that those responsible in the MLB voting community that gave Zack Greinke the AL Cy Young Award got it right. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20091115&content_id=7669424&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
Despite being on yet another horrible Royales team, Greinke was dominating almost all season and nearly un-hittable at times. Sixteen wins with that team would have been perhaps 24-or-25 with a real team like perhaps Anaheim or Boston.
Greinke is the first major award winner that’s been announced so far by MLB as the silly-season of Hot Stove League gets under way with some recognizing of the best of the best from the past season.
Next up is the announcement of the AL Manager of the year in which it would seem that Mike Scocia has the inside track at winning after keeping the ship together out in Anaheim despite myriad injuries, the tragedy of Josh Adenhart being killed and still making it to the ALCS (only to lose AGAIN, but I digress).
As the awards start flowing, is it perhaps time for us in the International Kegerator Nation to start naming our own award winners? Read the rest of this entry »

Another slow week here in the Kegerator Nation. Who knows, we could use your help!
Looking for the addition of writers and correspondents to report stuff for Kegerator Nation as it hopefully expands…
Think you have what it takes to jump on this train and add content to the most trusted source for Gonzo Sports Bloggery???
If not, well, we’re in need of good word of mouth, so pass along the word that Kegerator Nation is a must read and a must book mark site!!!
by Mike Zimmer, Hack
I promise I won’t bitch, moan or complain. I won’t even beg. I have received many kudos and nods of positive reaction to the site and the content here in, after a recent moment of weakness. While I do appreciate all the positive vibes, the site is still a bit slow and it’s not from my lack of trying and my lack of will.
It might be nice to add some more content from some more diverse points of view perhaps. The addition of more content from varied sources may just pump up this here little site of ours and make it even better.
So, I am putting the call out for anyone that is willing to write, report or add content to the site. Whether you have an idea for a story, a small essay on your opinion, a trip to a recent venue of sports or music or even if there’s a pretty good movie you just saw and ever wanted to either express your opinion about it or just post the pictures and your thoughts, it would be a welcome addition to the site after some editorial review.
Many thanks to Steubby for adding a recent Fantasy Football blurb and for Larry for sending along a brief report from Ann Arbor (who is a whore you know) after his trip up to see The Big Shit House with a buddy of his. I hear Lar will be down at Nippert for the UC/UConn game this weekend and has promised some pics if he doesn’t get too shit faced before hand and loses all concept of how to use a camera. This kind of stuff is gold and it’s nice to be able to add it to the ‘Nation.
The call goes out to all readers of the site and all those that may just be tripping over it: content is welcome and wanted at this point in time.
And to all of those that have contributed in the past, well, it’s never too late to come home. However short, however sweet, however little you feel you may have to add, it is welcome. Don’t know how to use the site? No matter, send me an e-mail with your content and I’ll take care of the rest. No picture or thoughts on what it should look like or whatever? Again, no problem, I’ll take care of that too.
We miss you Johnny Hoyt…
We miss when “we all go to the movies” Big B…
Hockey just isn’t the same when it’s not shot through the beer glazed goggles of you Mike B…
We’ve yet to hear or read a single bit about any single Tea Leaf Green show Mr. Brewer and you’re the Executive Editor, Web Master and President of this here site…
Original Kegerator Nation members, you have been strangely silent for far too long…
Anything and everything is welcome.
For anyone that may want to contribute, add content, has an idea for an article, would like to report something et al, please contact me at cbusmike@hotmail.com and send a long some information to boot. Naturally, not all things will be considered, but damn near everything will as long as it covers the areas of interest that this site has always had in mind: Beer, Babes, Sports, Music, Pop Culture, Funny shit and the occasional rant. Art work and photo shopping (something I am poor and typically incapable of) is also welcome.
Keep looking out for those upgrades that Mr. Brewer has promised us like a government official time and time again and keep tuning in to the site, spreading the gospel and growing the Kegerator Nation!

Sporting Bengals gear and a smile, M. Larry Ritzel survived behind enemy lines in “that state up north” last weekend.
Larry survives a trip up to Ann Arbor (who is a whore you know) and brings back pictures…
Unimpressed with ‘The Big Shit House’, he still gladly crossed it off his bucket list…
Just another reminder that the Kegerator Nation is everywhere, goes everywhere and tells it like it is.
by L. Marty Ritzel,
edited by Mike Zimmer
Editors Note:
What do you do? A buddy offers you the chance to see a Big T(elev)en Conference game in a “storied” and “historic” venue at a traditional college football “power house”. The only problem? This goes against the principle of your beliefs that said place is taboo and horrible. Yet, it is one more thing that can be crossed off your so-called bucket list, or the things you’d like to see or do before you die.
Well, Larry got such an opportunity this past weekend and jumped at it. Hey, college football is college football, even if it is the hated Penn State Nittany Lions visiting the miserable bastard communist Meatchicken Wolverweenies. Larry sent me the following pictures and a brief note. This is what it said:

Hidden shitter, pissing sky.
“I got to check a trip to the big house off of my bucket list on Saturday as I attended Michigan/ Penn State. I can now verify that not only is Ann Arbor a whore she is also a bitch who pissed a cold rain on us Saturday. ”
Joe Poop-Pa walking the goal line.
“As you can see I represented the Bengals as I refused to wear any Michigan gear, though my buddy Joe tried like hell to get me to wear something yellow since it was a Maize out. Fuckers don’t even know yellow is yellow.”
Endzone seat view of Meatchicken scoring an early TD in their 35-10 loss.
”However it was a great time and I’m glad I went. There is something to be said for getting to see so many pissed off Michigan fans at once while Penn Sate was comepletely dominating them. So much though that Joe wanted to leave mid 3rd qtr.”
With the game more or less over, Marty snapped a picture of the damage done.
“I went ahead and took a pic of the scoreboard while we were leaving. He was not amused. It wasn’t nearly as big as I thought a place that holds 110,000 would be. They just pack those fuckers in there like sardines.”
In further communications, Larry expressed his initial doubts about going up to Ann Arbor (WHORE!!!) but threw off the shackles of Buckeye-dome to do it. Apparently with the fading luster of Saint Jim Tressell’s play-calling the last several years and the addition of Terrelle Pryor who he loathes, his bonds have been easier to break. He’s also admitted to being more of a Cincinnati Bearcats fan first and foremost in football and not just basketball (as he did attend UC in their hoopster hey day).
Look, we all have our least favorite Buckeye players (Big B currently loathes Ray Small and I curse Stanley Fucking Jackson’s name), but come on Larry, this had to be dangerous territory to cross into enemy lines and start to consider that on the whole that he was a bigger college football fan than being chained to the Buckeyes.
Thank you to Lar’s report and pics. This is a little more like it Kegerator Nation! It’s a community effort that will show that we are a proud nation of sports fans, fantasy sports nerds and debauched animals keen on good beer, hot women with loose morals and enjoy a vast and wide variety of music and party scenes.
