Tebow’s gone, but they remain very…well…Gaytorish.

  • You didn’t think I’d forget about the PICK SIX did you???
  • Your guide to the best college football match-ups of the week and picking against the spread…
  • If only Brew was still taking bets!!!

by Mike Zimmer, College Football Guru

What looked like a rather mundane first week of college football from a distance, reveals some rather good looking match-ups and entertaining games.  Upon arriving and plotting our viewing schedule here at the Florida Garage-Mahal Bunker HQ for the first week of college football, there is a plethora of games to watch and enjoy.

Big B and I have plotted out a course that includes an entire sheet of the games to view for the entire day.  That includes 7-games between Noon and 3:30pm on the tube, 7-games between 3:30pm and 7pm, 9-games between 7pm and 10pm and 2-late night offerings.  That’s right, we’ll be keeping tabs on no less than 25-games here on 4-TV sets in the Cape Coral, Florida Bunker of Big B’s.

But the best of the day?  The Pick Six?  You knew I wouldn’t go and leave you without a guide to the best games available did you?  Hit the jump and see the best of the best and then some for this first official Saturday of the college football season!!!  DO IT!!! Read the rest of this entry »

TV: Top Gear’s Stig revealed!!!

Posted: September 2nd, 2010 | Author: Zim | Filed under: TV | No Comments »

The Stig.

  • Publisher ruins part of a great show on the BBC after they sue for the right to publish who ‘The Stig’ is…
  • ‘Top Gear’ not sure if they will continue using The Stig as part of the show now after 2nd driver revealed…
  • One of the biggest things I miss about England is regular viewing of the greatest show…in the world.

by Mike Zimmer, Speed Demon

Why do people have to ruin everything?  Sure, sure, the mysterious identity, the highly guarded secret about just exactly who The Stig is, is all part of the fun and finding out something is some kind of coup.  But to be honest, it’s good that the secret is still actually there, the mystery is in place.

But, some publisher in England has sued and gotten the right despite efforts of the BBC to block the story from coming out that the identity of The Stig is just some guy, a former minor league Formula One driver from England (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100901/ap_on_en_tv/eu_britain_top_gear).

So now, the show is a little less…well…fun in a way.  It was the world’s worst and least seriously kept secret and in very British style was kind of back-handed humor, juvenile but not over the top, kitsch if you will.  Unless you know the show and know the Brits, perhaps you wouldn’t be able to understand.  The show, honestly one of the things I miss most about England, is a riot but surely an acquired taste.  I do miss being able to watch the show twice a day in repeats like we do ‘The Simpsons’ here in the states.  It never grows old.  Check it out.  But know now, The Stig is no longer a secret.

TV: I think AMC has another winner with ‘Walking Dead’

Posted: August 25th, 2010 | Author: Zim | Filed under: TV | No Comments »

Creepy but pretty cool looking.

  • Despite some similarities to ’28 Days Later’, the new American Movies Classic channel show based on a series of graphic novels with the same name, this show looks pretty freakin’ cool…
  • Will we ever tire of Zombie movies/shows???
  • What the heck is AMC doing making awesome “shows” when they’re supposed to be a Movie channel???

by Mike Zimmer, Not a fan of the horror…but this looks good

While watching this trailer, I was a little off-put at the beginning by the fact that this looks an awful lot like an Americanizing version of ’28 Days Later’ where a guy wakes in a hospital bed to an apocalypse and then has to avoid zombies or die.  However, the show is based off a series of graphic novels apparently and to be honest with you, I like the idea of a resourceful cop versus an English fop any day.

American Movies Classic (AMC) looks to have yet another potential hit show in addition to their franchise stalwart ‘Mad Men’ and their new and intriguing ‘Rubicon’ amongst other series.  While I’m not a big fan of horror, this does look pretty good and Frank Darabont is involved which pretty much tells you it’s a committed piece and not some schlock.  The storyline could be very good and it might just bring the zombie/horror genre to TV and that’s just fine by me.  Heck, I’m all for a comedy featuring zombies too.  Will we ever tire of the zombie genre?  I’m not thinking so, until a zombie dons a Fonzie jacket and jumps some sharks…or a zombie show/movie features say Joey from ‘Friends’.

AMC is churning them out aren’t they?  I mean, come on, this was a channel no one hardly watched once upon a time because they had little to show and when they did, feature movies took like 6-1/2 hours to run with commercials every 7-minutes.  While they still kill you with commercials during their films (‘Gangs of New York’ took me like 5-hours to watch), their shows are kicking ass.  I love ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Rubicon’ has interested me a bit too.  Kudos to them for bringing the big guns on a show that I don’t think the big networks would touch because it looks expensive and is a genre that they can’t put either a laugh track to or cast “real” people to and turn into a “reality” show.

HOT: ‘True Blood’ on the cover of Rolling Stone…Niiiiiiiiiice.

Awww Sookie.

  • Loves me some ‘True Blood’ and this cover on horrible rag Rolling Stone is making me hunger for catching up on the 2nd and 3rd seasons…
  • Hmmmm, yeah, love me some Anna Paquin too.

by Mike Zimmer, True Blood fan

Like any good show, ‘True Blood’ sucks you in.  Hahaha, literally.  Yeah, yeah, bad joke.  The show about Vampires and all other sorts of weirdness down in the Louisiana Bayou is truly addicting even if you’re not a big fan of the genre.  Trust me, I’m not easily pleased when it comes to TV shows, even those on the pay-cable channels like HBO (which I don’t freakin’ have!!!) but I do love a good show with great plot quirks, great characters and good acting.  Oh, and the sex and gore doesn’t hurt at all either (http://www.rollingstone.com/culture/news/17389/191809).

Anna Paquin stars in the show if you’ve never seen it and I’ll tell ya, she’s not afraid of showing the skin, nor does anyone else in the show for that matter.  In fact, one of the best parts of the show is the complete obsession with sex, blood and twists and turns.  It’s OK to admit loving the show despite the fact that it truly is a bit of a Soap Opera.  But, it’s a Soap Opera for dudes and chicks alike (http://fleshbot.com/5615993/the-true-blood-threesome-that-needs-to-happen)

While I typically eskew Rolling Stone because it’s a horribly slanted publication and doesn’t even cover music well, this cover is pretty freakin’ hot.  No, I won’t be buying it, but someone could buy it for me.  My birthday was August 11th and I am still awaiting gifts to arrive via mail and that surprise party I’ve still not been invited to.

NFL: Woooo-Hoooo!!! Ring all the church bells in the country, the curse that is Keith the Commie is no more on Sunday Night Football!!!

Posted: August 6th, 2010 | Author: Zim | Filed under: Announcement, Announcers, NFL, TV | No Comments »

America hating communist asshole, Keith Olbermann.

  • Liberal hack partisan ‘Commie Keith’ FINALLY removed from NBC Sunday Night Football broadcast and the awfulness that has become ‘Football Night in America’…
  • After a couple of years ruining a football highlight show that is not as good as it should be, the network finally pulls the plug on Olbermann and his tired, annoying and hackneyed shtick…
  • Let’s see, now if they could get rid of about 42-other athletes and actually show highlights, NBC’s lead-in to SNF might be watchable.

by Mike Zimmer, Gimme NFL Network any day

Thank Christ, Commie Keith is no longer going to ruin NBC’s Football Night in America.  The network has FINALLY removed the liberal douche bag political commentator from doing football highlights and embarrassing himself further with silly things like ”The Worst Person of the Week” bits.

NBC is shuffling their talent a bit in an effort to try and make their tepid lead in to SNF better and one good first move was to nix Commie Keith (http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/nbc-takes-olbermann-off-football-night-in-america-28791).  It’s a start considering that Olbermann is one of the leading commie liberals over at one of the poorly rated NBC news entities.  In a bout of double-standards for the liberal media and their own, they should never have had an inept political show commentator back into the realm of doing football highlights even if he’d once worked at ESPN and once upon a time been decent at his job doing that.  Rush Limbaugh didn’t belong anywhere near ESPN once upon a time and Commie Keith shouldn’t have been on FNIA.

NBC now needs to go about removing all the other dead weight from their broadcast which has become a self-parody of bad football programming with like 53-members of it’s broadcast including former players that couldn’t carry Bob Costas’s jock strap when it comes to the verbal conveyance of the game nor add anything worth while.  I say the next to whack is Jerome Bettis who as always is a poor man’s Emmit Smith.  Yep, I said it, Emmit at least was entertaining when he invented words and butchered the English language.  What has ‘The Bus’ done for that broadcast other than laugh and be annoying?

NBA: Former Cav, 13-year league vet Lorenzen Wright found shot dead, possible ‘First 48′ Episode featuring Memphis’s finest?

Posted: July 29th, 2010 | Author: Zim | Filed under: NBA, TV | No Comments »

Missing for a couple weeks now, Wright was found dead in some woods outside his hometown of Memphis.

  • Former first round “bust”, Wright hung around the NBA for 13-seasons before flaming out with the Cavs a few seasons ago…
  • Wright went missing but has now been found dead in his hometown shot perhaps 18-times…
  • This would be a perfect case for ‘The First 48′, especially if the rumors about Wright’s ex-wife’s possible involvement are true.

by Mike Zimmer, Hopes Tony Mullins and Caroline Mason are on the case

Sad news out of Memphis, Tennessee, where former Memphis Tigers stand out and 13-year NBA veteran (last with the Cleveland Cavs) was found shot dead a couple of weeks after going missing.  Lorenzen Wright was found shot to death, perhaps up to 18-times in a wooded area in Memphis (http://www.myfoxmemphis.com/dpp/news/local/072810-lorenzen-wright%27s-body-found).

Wright was initially a bit of a bust in the NBA after being selected 7th over-all in the NBA’s silly draft lottery by the L.A. Clippers.  However, while never becoming a stand out or star, he did last 13-seasons in the league and carved a bit of a niche out for himself as a guy who came off the bench as recently as 2007 with the Cavs.

The circumstances of Wright’s death are sketchy and the fact that he went missing for so long and now has been found brutally murdered, while sad are incredibly intriguing.  Of course while it’s probably in bad taste, I’m hoping this is featured on the incredibly awesome show ‘The First 48′. TV: ‘Serenity Now’, the new ‘Seinfeld’ movie!!!

Posted: July 22nd, 2010 | Author: Zim | Filed under: Comedy, Movies, TV | 1 Comment »

Someone had too much time on their hands.

  • Brilliant “re-imagining” of a ‘Seinfeld’ episode spliced together to look like a movie thriller…
  • Not enough George Costanza in this though, but then again, more Wayne Knight than you’ve seen since ‘Third Rock From The Sun’…
  • “What is it with all these movie thrillers?  Hey, these pretzels are makin’ me thirsty.”

TV: Chris Berman, arrogant prick? Reviled?

Posted: July 20th, 2010 | Author: Zim | Filed under: Announcers, Sports, TV | No Comments »

So nice, you should see it twice…in a week.

  • Chris Berman pretty much shows off the fact that he’s an arrogant prick on a grander scale via an interview with a media outlet that actually put some tough questions to him…
  • Sportsbybrooks.com then picked up on it and pretty much tore Berman apart in dissecting his interview…
  • It’s Official: Chris Berman is reviled.

by Mike Zimmer, Misses Tom Meese

Last week I ran the article about how ESPN’s Chris Berman is headed into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and how incomplete a body of work he seems to have to be enshrined in Canton (http://kegeratornation.com/?p=7555).  Well, apparently I’m not the only person who thinks that perhaps it’s a bit soon and/or outlandish to put Boomer Berman into the Hall.

Berman is apparently an arrogant douche off camera and isn’t exactly like his perceived persona of being “the fans” favorite or a nice guy at all.  And, in an interview with an television industry blog, it seems to come out even more that perhaps he’s a dick.  Sportsbybrooks.com picked up on this and further deconstructed Berman in his interview (http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/berman-critics-angry-dont-speak-for-people-28700).

It’s worth the read and may have sewn up something for this site.  Officially, Chris Berman is to be reviled.  After many years of appreciating if not always liking Berman, I’m pretty sure that now, everything he has something to do with is ruined.

CFB: EA to sue The Ohio State University over her admiring her own ass on peep hole camera

Posted: July 20th, 2010 | Author: Zim | Filed under: Announcement, Babble, Babes, Sports, TV | No Comments »

EA, serious journalist, litigious.

  • Apparently Erin Andrews thinks some of the footage of her admiring her own ass in the mirror were from ‘The Blackwell’ on the campus of The Ohio State University…
  • EA is set to sue OSU and a laundry list of other hotels charging that they allowed her peep-show photog access to the rooms next to hers when he filmed her shaved beaver show…
  • EA my dear, you are no Jenn Brown.

by Mike Zimmer, Room 136

The Ohio State University has been named as a defendant in a case brought by ESPN’s Erin Andrews, alleging that the university owned Blackwell Hotel was partly at fault in giving her peep show photographer access to rooms near hers. (http://www2.nbc4i.com/news/2010/jul/16/espn-reporter-sues-ohio-state-secret-tapings-case-ar-152927/).

EA is apparently going to milk this thing to the very end, suing anyone she can in an order to make up for the fact that apparently ‘Dancing With The D-List Stars’ and that new contract at ESPN isn’t enough.  It’s one thing to sue the Red Roof Inn at Tuscaloosa, Alabama for giving her a bed bugs infection and allowing the pervy peeping Tom time to drill holes in walls, but a completely other thing to sue the beloved tOSU.  Seriously?  Is she going to sue every place on the planet she’s admired her bare ass in a mirror?  I mean, that perfectly groomed shaved beaver show must’ve had all sorts of stops on tour right?

I’m not dogging EA, no far from it.  But the longer she allows shit like this to persist, the less we’ll be forgetting about those images of her primping, priming and admiring her tall, lean and awesome naked body in the footage that…we NEVER watched on any site anywhere at any time*.  Which begs the question further about whether or not she’s bilking this and perhaps even knew about it for the purposes of furthering her career.  I will say this: Erin Andrews, you are no Jenn Brown my dear.   Get a legit modeling career and show us some skin and freaks like this won’t be “illegally” filming you.
