Brew Watch – November 2008

Vic Mackey says that you better watch the final 3 episodes of The Shield.
Brew brings you his Top Five shows that he’s watching right now.
Zim probably disagrees with half of them, or is pissed that Brew is talking about them while he hasn’t been able to keep up in Jolly Ole England.

It’s been a great TV season for me and I just wanted to share with you my Top 5 shows that I’m currently watching.
5. The Office
I will admit, it has kind of lost some of its swagger this season. With Pam in NY, you really start to miss the Jim/Pam interaction and the little looks they would give each other. But stepping up to fill in so far this season has been Michael. Whenever you really start feeling annoyed with him, he then does something that makes you liking him that much more.
Still, the star of this show for me is Dwight. My hope is that Rain Wilson never finds success outside of The Office, so he will always play Dwight. I think I connect with Dwight so much is the fact that I work with a bunch of Dwights.
4. 30 Rock
It just came back on last week, but it’s definitely one of my favorite shows on right now. While I can’t stand Alec Baldwin as a person, as Jack Donaghy he is freaking hilarous. From his stories of once dating Condaleeza Rice, to his jar collection, it’s almost always comedic gold when he’s on screen. And Tina Fey has that naughty librarian look to her. Again, don’t care for her politics, but I’d let her pull my lever in the bedroom election. Wait, what?
3. Sons of Anarchy
My favorite new show this season. It’s finally starting to hit its stride. It makes me want to start my own motorcycle club, but it would probably be called Sons of Apathy. Anyways, this show has bikes, guns and some hot women. What other reasons do you need besides that?
2. How I Met Your Mother
I know what you’re saying – “What the fuck?!?!?” But here me out on this! This show is absolutely hilarious! My only regret is that I didn’t start watching it sooner. And Neil Patrick Harris is by far the funniest character on the show. As Barney, he is what Zim wants to be – A womanizing playboy with no concious whatsoever. Hell, I wanna be that too! This is definitely my Must See TV on Monday nights, even over Monday Night Football. That’s right, I said it.
1. The Shield
Holy Crap! Does this show really need to end? Bummer. I got into it way to late and one day I’m going to have to go buy the first 4 seasons. I don’t know if this season is better than the one that Forrest Whitaker was on (Season 5?), but it’s pretty damn close. And there’s only 3 episodes left and the tension keeps rising!
My predictions are that either Vic ends up in an orange jumpsuit, surrounded by all the people he put away, or he ends up with either his badge back or a federal job while everyone else burns. Either way, it’s going to make for some great drama!
What I’m Looking Forward To
January is going to be a great month. Battlestar Galactica and Damages both start back up. It’s the final season of BSG (and probably a good time to end it too) and Damages is picking up where it left off. Plus, just saw that Damages has been picked up for third season already, so they must be liking what they’ve seen in Season 2!
